Strategy games reward the players who plan three moves ahead. On Play Portal this category gathers tower defence battles, real-time and turn-based war games, city and kingdom builders, chess and card strategy, and resource-management challenges that you can play free in your browser. Unlike pure action games, winning here depends on decisions: where to place your defences, when to spend your resources and which upgrade path to choose. Most titles include a short tutorial or an easy first level, so new players can learn the systems step by step before the real challenge begins. Sessions tend to be longer than in other categories, which makes strategy games a good choice when you want one satisfying game instead of many quick ones. Progress-saving features in most titles mean a big campaign does not have to be finished in a single sitting. Read the How to Play section on each game page before starting — strategy games have more rules than most, and two minutes of reading can save twenty minutes of confusion.
